Trip to Anticyra
The city of Anticyra, in Phocis, sacred land of ancient Greece, once famous for the Hellebore that was picked there, was the origin of a saying: “Need a trip to Anticyra. »
Devil ! What does mean ? The hellebore, or hellebore, a type of buttercup, had a purgative power, but even more so, it was thought, the ability to restore theirs to those who had lost it. Hellebore (from the Greek Ελλέβορος) therefore had an extended cathartic function by also curing madness. Hence master aliboron which meant (the only etymology that I will remember) doctor who administers hellebore before sliding in the wrong direction, or because our plant is inactive, towards our donkey. From scientist the nickname meant someone who knows everything and does nothing useful. A donkey.
In short, let’s come to my point which would like some who govern us to have an urgent need for a trip to Anticyra to, as La Fontaine said in the Hare and the Tortoise, “My gossip, you need to purge with four hellebore grains. The decisions that are made become inane. And above all, above all, it destroys and disrupts the minds, particularly those poorly formed of a youth who should be carefree
Imagine that for these parties, my sixteen-year-old granddaughter, planning to celebrate with a few friends, was worried about seeing the police show up unexpectedly and fine everyone by entering the place of perversion where nine children, instead of six recommended by the Ministry’s aliborons, would drink Sauternes between two jets of streamers on this New Year’s Eve.
No matter how much we tried to reassure her, her father and I, nothing helped. She remained convinced, like the other rascals in her gang, that marshals or other keufs had every right to slip their hands into the rosary and lead them manu militari in a carriage.
We can never repeat it enough, the police do not have all the rights and particularly the right to enter people’s homes, during the day and not at night, without a letter rogatory. Even after denunciation of bilious neighbors for nocturnal uproar. This is in no way terrorism, but a temporary and stupid ban on New Year’s Eve only in a select committee, then sleeping there. Therefore we advised him, whether there were six, nine or sixty, it didn’t matter, for the sake of public safety, to send these peacekeepers to pasture if by chance they pointed their suspicious faces at the front of their door in greasy like covid.
It is still unthinkable that by dint of distressing speeches, brainwashing, brainwashing, we could transform a youth full of ideals, enthusiasm, joy of living, into fearful mop of a future that ‘we wash with a lot of dantesque predictions.
The path of life is strewn with pitfalls, dangers, obstacles. Viruses, bacteria and other pathogens are among them. The cops too. The characteristic of youth is to ignore it. If at sixteen years of age fear should guide actions, what will it be in middle age? Our societies are working for a radiant, smooth, Chinese-style future of anxious, pusillanimous clones, holed up in the narrowness of their caves, approving all impostures.
Fourier declared that “Recourse to constraint is precarious and always denotes a lack of genius”, a sensible word that Alain liked to repeat.
Our rulers? Donkeys, I tell you, who would really need a trip to Anticyra to suck on seeds of hellebore. At least it would purge their entrails if not the brain.
